How we compare

Mortgages Finder provides general mortgage information, calculators and adviser introductions. This page explains how that differs from going direct to a lender, using an adviser, or browsing comparison websites.

Option Role When it may help Limits to understand
Mortgages Finder Mortgage information, calculators and adviser introductions. Useful when you want to prepare your figures and, if appropriate, ask for a callback from one adviser or broker partner. We are not a lender and do not give regulated mortgage advice on this website.
Going direct to a lender You deal with one lender and their own products. Useful when you already know which lender you want to approach or you want to manage the application yourself. A direct lender will not compare products from other lenders for you.
A mortgage broker or adviser An authorised adviser can assess your circumstances and explain suitable options from the lenders they work with. Useful when you want personalised advice, lender-specific criteria checks or help with an application. Fees, panel access and service scope vary by firm and should be explained before you proceed.
A rate comparison website Often lists headline rates, fees and product filters. Useful for broad market context before you check eligibility. Headline rates may not be available to you and may not reflect full advice, criteria or application support.

What we do

We help you understand mortgage figures before you speak to an adviser. Our calculators and guides are general information only and are not mortgage offers, decisions in principle or personalised recommendations.

If you submit an enquiry, we may introduce you to a mortgage adviser or broker partner. They should explain their regulatory status, service scope, fees and how they are paid before you decide whether to proceed.

What we do not do

How to use this information

Use this page to decide what kind of support you need. If you want personalised advice, an FCA-authorised adviser should review your income, outgoings, credit profile, deposit, property and objectives before discussing a recommendation.

For more detail on introductions and commercial arrangements, read how we make money and our lender panel.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Built around adviser introductions

Mortgages Finder focuses on matching your circumstances with a UK mortgage adviser partner. Calculator results and guides are starting points only; any product discussion depends on your full circumstances and lender criteria.
